SHORT-TERM COURSE /WORKSHOP etc
1-6 days programme

These will be organized for shorter duration of one week (6 working days, 36 contact hours) and will be covering mainly for capacity building of academics, administrations and other stakeholders.

Target groups � University and college teachers, academic administrations including Principal of colleges and group �A� UGC officers, Non academic group �B� and �C� staff including UGC staff.

Eligibility:
A teacher, who has completed Orientation Programme, can apply for any sort of Short-term Courses ordinarily after a lapse of six months.
Teachers working in university and college that are included under Section 2(f) of the UGC- Act, even though they may not yet be fit to be included under Section 12(B), are be invited to participate in the Orientation Programme. The teachers of colleges that do not yet come within the purview of Section 12(B), but have been affiliated to a university for at least two years, will be permitted to participate in the programme/courses.

Registration:
Eligible candidates may download the Registration Form from the website of Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), D.D.U. Gorakhpur University or can procure it from the office of ASC on any working days of the week. Duly filled form with a Demand draft of Rs. 1000/- drawn in favour of Academic Staff College, D.D.U. Gorakhpur University, payable at Gorakhpur must be deposited or sent to ASC office so as to reach preferably a week ahead of the commencement of the course to ensure their participation in the course.

Accommodation:
The accommodation is easily available in Human Resource Development Centre Guest House situated within the university campusat a distance of 100 m from the venue of the programmer/course

EVALUATION PROCESS

The University Grants Commission has made evaluation more specific and effective. All the Orientation Programmes and Refresher Courses undergo the process of systematic appraisal. Both the participants, as well as resource persons are put through a set of evaluation processes. The participants are evaluated on the following five counts as per UGC guidelines�  
1. Multiple Choice Questions: (30 marks)- Participants undergo an objective test of 30 Multiple Choice Questions(MCQ) covering the lectures of whole course.
2. Micro-teaching: (10 marks)- Every teacher perform the art of ideal teaching as if he/she is standing in a class of students. He / She is observed, evaluated and given marks by eminent resource persons, who provide marks for his/her performance.
3. Seminar: (15 marks)- The depth of knowledge and approach of study of every participant is assessed by a judge especially with reference to his analytical and observational capabilities. Competent university professors observe, evaluate and give marks according to the performance of participants.
4. (a) Group presentation: (20 marks)- The Orientation Programme participants are required to focus, comment and show the approach to solve the problems of social evils, injustice, superstitions, reforms etc. by way of group presentation. A small group of participants play the roles of different characters or they can use any innovative measures   to provide rational messages to human society. Their performance is judged, evaluated and marked.
4. (b) Project/Survey/Others (20 marks)- The Refresher Course participants are evaluated on this count as per the thrust area of the Refresher Course.
5. Holistic Response (25 marks) � Punctuality, Regularity, Initiative, Conduct, Responsiveness etc. of the participants.   
Grading:
The grade assigned on the certificate of the Orientation Programme / Refresher Course is determined as follows �
i) �A�  : 75 percent and above.
ii) �B� : 60 percent to less than 75 percent.
iii) �C� : 50 percent to less than 60 percent.
iv) �D� : Below 50 percent.
Those teacher participants who get grade D are required to repeat the  programme after a gap of one year without financial commitment to the UGC-HRDC.                               

During every programme participants have to fill in two Self Evaluation Proformas one at the beginning of the course (S.E.I) and the other on the last day (S.E.II) in order to see the change in their perception and attitude towards higher education after attending the course.
After every weak participants fill in weekly evaluation proformas in which they assess each lecture as well as each resource person.
Towards the end of the course participants evaluate the whole programme and they also give their feedback of the activities of the UGC-HRDC programme.
